How do you stop deer from eating at hanging bird feeders ?

We have bird feeders in our backyard that are hanging from posts. Deer come up to the feeders and slightly tip them so the seeds spill out onto the tray so they can lick the seeds off the tray. My husband wrapped chicken wire aroud the trays but that hasn’t stopped them. HELP!!!
