Do you know any safe way to kill weeds/grass without hurting the birds that visit my feeders?

Steffy asked:

I put my bird feeder in the middle of some patio stones and the seed drops between the stones and grass and weeds grow. I pluck them out but was wondering if there was an easy way to kill it without hurting my little feathered friends. Thank-you!

Do mockingbirds feed at bird feeders?

mrs g3 asked:

We were in Tennessee last week, and I loved the way they sing. I was just curious whether they come to feeders or are strictly fend-for-themself-type birds.
We don’t have them in Wisconsin, sadly.

Lots of trees and bird feeders, but not any birds. Why?

We recently move to a house with lots of trees, but we haven’t seen any birds. We have put out two feeders and filled them. What can we do to get the birds back in our yard?
