Where to put a basic gravity bird feeder?

I got just a basic like $1 gravity bird feeder just to see if i enjoyed this as much as i enjoyed watching my hummers.. filled it with a basic mix.. now im wondering where to hang it? Can I hang it on a tree? And how far off the ground?
