For cover birds like to hide bit if they can.

The ground its even better so am betting that they will find them right after.

The feed you get lot of birds pretty soon.

It seems like birds can smell food (maybe they can). I have a feeder hung from a tree, a freestanding feeder on a pole, a Finch feeder bag and two hummingbird feeders. As soon as they are refilled in the spring, I have birds all over the place.
