Sparrows dying at bird feeder, help?

Posted by admin
Boogeygirl asked:

Every day now it seems like I find a sparrow dead next to my bird feeder. Usually they’re beheaded or they have severe peck marks on their heads. I don’t know what could be doing that. We have a hawk around here, but the hawk usually eats the whole bird. My mom thinks that it might be a mourning dove, a chipmunk or a grackle that’s doing it. I don’t think it could be the mourning dove, but I’m not sure about the other two. Anyone else ever have a problem like this?

I don’t think there is anything you can/or should do about it. Nature will run it’s course.

If there’s peck marks, I severely doubt it’s a chipmunk.
